Every once and a while I work up the ambition to get up off the couch, go outside, and see the world. Here are some of the trips I have taken.

Dublin

I spoke at a conference in Dublin in July of 2016, and Kelcey happened to be in the area at the same time. We joined forces to wreak havoc on Ireland's largest city, which mostly involved wandering around looking at weird things.

Philadelphia

Daniel got married in Philadelphia in March of 2015, and I'd never been to the city before. Loren, Vicki, and I met up a few days beforehand to run around and see things like Valley Forge, the Liberty Bell, and sketchy restaurants.

Biking to Bandelier

After spending a really long time thinking about it, I finally got my camping gear together, packed it on the back of my bike, and rode it over to Bandelier National Monument for a night. I also took the opportunity to check out one of the hidden ruins in the park, and was able to prove my manliness by doing an in-the-field replacement of the inner tube in one of my tires.

Kauai, Hawaii

In July of 2013 we had the opportunity to spend a week on Kauai with free lodging; we just had to get ourselves there. After considering caulking up the car doors and driving, we opted to pack everybody into a plane and fly out. We spent the week swimming, hiking, snorkeling, and generally lounging around.

Great Southwest Adventure of 2012

Labor Day of 2012 fell on a week where I already had Friday off, so I figured I should also take the other three days of the week off and head up to Colorado. Grand Canyon

In July of 2003, Kevin and I hopped in the Miata one Saturday afternoon and took a 3000 mile round trip to the Grand Canyon. Our route took us through the Red Mountain Pass, past Mesa Verde, the Petrified Forest, and Santa Fe. Of course, it also took us through the Grand Canyon.
